Story

Looking out the window at a huge snowstorm falling, and sipping some hot cocoa, I imagined all the fun we'd have playing in the snow.  That was before the shoveling!

Lyrics

Skating, ice skating

I want to go skating with you

Sledding, downhill sledding

Let’s go sledding too!

Snowballs, throwing snowballs

I want to throw snowballs with you

Snowmen, building snowmen

Let’s build snowmen too!

It’s so much fun playing in the snow

Let’s bundle up and out we go,

I’ll be happy, no matter what we do

As long as I’m with you!

Stories, funny stories

I want to read stories with you

Cocoa, hot cocoa

Let’s drink cocoa too!

Pictures, painting pictures

I want to paint pictures with you

Dress-up, costume dress-up

Let’s play dress-up too!

It’s so much fun playing in the house

When it’s just too cold to go out,

I’ll be happy, no matter what we do

As long as I’m with you!

SOLO

Music, sweet music

I want to make music with you

Dancing, crazy dancing

Let’s go dancing too!

It’s so much fun in the soft snowy moonlight

Pajama party sleepover night

I’ll be happy, no matter what we do

As long as I’m with you!

Outside, or inside

I want to share my time with you

Playing, winter playing

Winter playing with you

Story

An African song, I believe in the language of Bemba from Zambia, or perhaps a version of the huge 1986 hit called "Zangaléwa" by a makossa group from Cameroon called Golden Sounds. This song was the basis for Shakira's megahit "Waka Waka" - the official song of the 2010 World Cup.  I bet she heard it on my CD first!

Story

My daughter Sophia learned this from her Kindergarten teacher and has been singing it ever since. Way to go Mrs. Selman!

Lyrics

I see the moon, the moon sees me

Down through the leaves of the old apple tree

Please let the moon that shines on me

Shine on the ones I love

Over the mountains over the sea

That’s where my heart is longing to be

Please let the moon that shines on me

Shine on the ones I love
